at the University's Juhu Campus, the Department
offers a wide variety of courses through
in-class teaching , seminars, field work, experiential
learning, research and extension through
community outreach programmes.
The Department has an excellent faculty with wide and varied experience in the five areas of
specialisation.
The Department networks and collaborates extensively with industry, research institutions, other academic
institutions, voluntary sector, government
departments, professional associations and bilateral agencies.
The Department offers instruction in the semester pattern.
GOALS

To develop socially responsible professionals in home Science and its various specialisations.

To undertake research and develop relevant data base in emerging areas of
Home Science.

To link higher education with need based services for community development with special emphasis on women and children.

To collaborate with industry, institutions, professional bodies for teaching research, extension and consultancy for academic excellence.
INTERNATIONAL LINKAGES

The first
international link between university of Tennessee and India marked the beginning of Home Science education at
S.N.D.T Women's University.
The
Department has had linkages with Edinburgh University,
U.K., London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine for Child
Nutrition, UK, UNICEF, IDRC, UNFPA etc.

The Department has close linkages with industries such as Bajaj, Mahindra and Mahindra, Hindustan Lever,
Phillips, Jyoti Ltd., Rallis, Crompton Greaves;
Collaborations with
BARC, CERC, CGSI, CLI, NIN, CFTRI, IIT, NITIE,
VJTI, SASMIRA and many other research organizations.
